Romansch is a Latin language and the language of Sursilvan. In Disentis and Sedrun it is the most commonly spoken language. The many spoken dialects of Romansh in Graubünden are written in five scripts (Sursilvan, Sutsilvan, Surmiran, Turchia and Valade).

Romansch is one is the four national languages of Switzerland - in the canton of Grisons around 19% of the population speak Romansch. For many communities, Romansch is the primary language of school and administrations. There are Romansch radio and television programs regularly.
